China has been known as the land of trades because of its manufactured goods. Most of the things we see are mostly from china too. As early as the 15th-16th century, china has been trading things around the world including the Philippines. This led to the adaptation of Chinese beliefs like luck, traditions and the Chinese New Year which is celebrated at January 29. From now then on, us Filipino’s celebrate it and you wanna know why?



Did you know that the Philippines also have the oldest Chinatown? Located in Binondo in Manila, on 1594 selling charms and Chinese symbols. The Chinese culture in the Philippines had been recognized to be very influential in the country, as Filipinos are known to partake in thecelebration by means of having Chinese Food, consulting Feng Shui experts for good luck, as well as reading their Chinese horoscope. It is also celebrated by many Filipinos as a time where families clean the house thoroughly to ward off evil spirits. Chinese New Year is a way for Filipino-Chinese people to celebrate their cultural identity and pass down traditions to future generations. It also contributes to tourism, celebration attracts visitors to the Philippines, especially to Binondo. At last it also promotes business, businesses capitalize on the holiday with special promotions and events.



Although, Philippines population doesn’t make up to Filipino-Chinese people, people of the Philippines tend to celebrate this event as a way to show respect to those people which helped us. Not only that, during this time families snd friends may bond together. Socialized with other people and get to know other people. You can get to see the infamous lion dance and colorful fireworks. All in all, chinese new year isn’t just an event by the chinese it is also a cultural celebration and accepted by most Filipinos
